The number on the website is not the number you pay. That is the whole article, but it is worth a few hundred more words, because british schools in dubai fees are quoted in a way that is technically honest and practically misleading, and because 2026 has handed parents an unusual piece of good news.
What They Actually Cost
The city wide average annual fee sits around AED 41,800 across all curricula, and British schools spread widely around it. Mid tier campuses generally land between AED 35,000 and 65,000. Schools holding the top KHDA rating reach AED 80,000 to 120,000.
Run that for two children in mid range British schools and you are looking at roughly AED 120,000 to 180,000 a year in tuition alone. For most families that sits second only to rent, which is why the cost of education in dubai deserves more planning than it gets and less panic than it causes.
The Published Fee Is Not the Price
Here is the gap. Transport, uniforms, books, trips and activities typically add another twenty to thirty per cent on top of tuition. On an AED 60,000 school, that is AED 12,000 to 18,000 nobody mentioned on the tour.
Budget from the total, not the headline. Anyone comparing british schools in dubai fees on published figures alone is comparing the wrong numbers.
The Discounts Nobody Advertises
They exist and are rarely offered unprompted. Sibling reductions commonly run five to fifteen per cent, several employers operate corporate schemes, and many schools cut around five per cent for settling the year upfront. Ask the registrar, because none of it appears in the fee schedule.

The Rules That Protect You
This is the part I wish every parent knew, because it is regulated and almost nobody checks.
Schools may charge a maximum of AED 500 to process a new application, and that cap includes standard assessment fees. It is not deductible from tuition. No school can request a registration deposit until it has made a formal offer and you have accepted it, and that deposit is capped at ten per cent of annual tuition and is deductible. Re registration is capped at five per cent or AED 500, whichever is higher.
Beyond those deposits, no school can ask for additional payment to secure a place. Published fees are regulated too: a Dubai British School cannot charge above the amount on its approved KHDA Fees Fact Sheet. If a request does not match that list, it is not a fee. It is a question for KHDA.
The 2026 to 27 Freeze
Now the good news. KHDA has confirmed that private school fees stay frozen across Dubai for 2026 to 27, regardless of inspection outcomes, as part of a wider AED 1.5 billion support package.
That is a genuine break from the norm. Increases are usually governed by the Education Cost Index and tied to a school’s rating, with stronger schools permitted more room. Next year, nobody gets any. Plan on this year’s number and enjoy the rare certainty.
How to Judge Value
Value is not the inverse of price, and in Dubai the correlation is weaker than anyone expects. Some of the most expensive schools in the city hold a Good rating; some strong schools charge mid range fees. Price tells you what a campus cost to build, not what happens in the classroom, which is the ground Why the scholars covers.

So stop comparing british schools in dubai fees against each other and start comparing each fee against what the school can evidence: outcomes, staff retention, and how honestly it answers an awkward question.
My Honest Position
Pay for teaching, not for the atrium. Every school has the pool now.
Work out the real annual cost including the twenty to thirty per cent nobody quotes, ask about every discount, read the Fees Fact Sheet rather than the brochure, and judge the school on what it can prove.
